Zeppelin

I really enjoy zeppelins, dirigibles, and hot air balloons. I like drawing them more than any other vehicle. This is done in ink on coldpress. I've fallen love with inkwells and pens. My hero is Peter De Seve who is a master with ink.

Dancing

I had fun painting this gal. I did it first as a sketch, then with some tracing paper painted it. Thank goodness for photoshop to edit out the wrinkles. I don't know what her story is yet, but its in the works.

Little Baby Moses

I illustrated this for the sunbeams(4 year olds) in my class for Sunday. They really enjoyed it. They had me read the poem that went with it at least four times. It was nice to have them appreciate my image so readily.

Argyle Shirt

This was a fun even if a bit quiet. I did a pen drawing, then I put some vellum over it and painted on it. The vellum really changes how acrylic acts. I've continued to use it, like for my "lil joe" jumping over the rock. Vellum can be treated like tracing paper without all the buckling, so I've enjoyed using it on little projects to see color.

Niffig

This is my griffen. Usually a griffen has a bird head and a lion body, well thats been done. So I combined a lion with a peacock. This is from my sketch book, but I thought it was a good start. I have some other combination ideas: cheetah/flamingo and goose/tiger. I've already sketched them out, but their not refined just yet.

Crabmaid

I feel like mermaids tend to be over done. Don't get me wrong... I enjoy drawing a mermaid every now and agian, but I felt like a crabmaid would be interesting. I had a good time researching different kinds of crabs and crustaceans. I did this in ballpoint pen, much to the chagrin of my illustration teacher. I think I'd like to paint it or maybe do a inkwell version with a nifty background.

This is my little baby version of one of my new favorite characters. I have few more sketches of them, but I still need to scan them in.

Mike!!

Isn't Mike handsome? I love my husband!!

Garden Hats

For Relief Society Activity, I decorated our garden hats with fake flowers and ribbons. It was a lot of fun. None of the others did that, so I felt a little out of place, but my mom said she loved hers and was more excited to wear her hat out in the garden now! Love you Mom!

Ogre

This is my ogre who will sit under a bridge, not to take tolls mind you, but to take a bath. The town down stream always hates it when he does because it makes the water sooooo smelly. But all the ogre grim nourishes the crops, so they can't complain toooo much.

Grumpy Creature

This little guy is kinda grumpy and when he tries to smile he looks even grumpier. I hope to use him in some sort of story. I haven't decided yet what his name is, but thats okay. Sometimes it takes some time to figure out.

Self Portrait

I've been a little baby hungry sometimes. So I hang out with my girlfriend and her little boy. I get to burp him, and when he cries I get to hand him back. Babies are just so darn cute!

Lil' Joe

My painted version! What a happy little kid!

Butterfly

More of my character!! I love this little guy.

Cardboard Fun

I've always had the most fun as a kid when we played with the boxes the toys came in. We (my sisters) had a blast with our cardboard castles. So I thought it would be fun to depict a kid using his cardboard box as a rocket ship. I originally had my boy as human not my cuddily creature, but I just couldn't get it right. I need to shoot some reference first. Keep a look out, I have a new version soon!!!

Monster Defeat

This is a small version of the finished work. I had a blast designing the monsters. I wish I had been able to show some more of the monster's bodies. I just love designing characters. The little kid is so cool! He scares off all those monsters with his super-duper flashlight!

ARt Blog!!!

This is my first Blog all by myself. This is for my artwork and other artist I like. I enjoy painting, drawing, inking, carving, sewing, embroidery, beading, printmaking, and crocheting. I can't help but create. And most of all I love to tell a story.

About Me

My photo
I am an illustrator, bookbinder, painter, doodler, list-maker, and wife. I love food. I am what can be categorized as a dabbler. I love trying new things, but I always come back around to art and illustration. I just can't help it.
