Another day in January

Another journal comic. Simple, but I'm pleased with it. I hope I get better at storytelling as I do this. I'd like to do it everyday. I think I could, if I can keep it this concise most of the time. With a new baby on the way, I won't exactly have oodles of time to draw like I used to.

Holy Germs, Batman!

Who knew church could be such a dangerous place!? I'm 39 weeks pregnant (basically ready to pop at any moment) and I would really like to not to be fighting the flu or a cold while trying to push a baby out. So I was sent home early. Husbands can be protective that way.

Anyway...

My darling husband Mike has encouraged me to revive my journal comics. He loves them so much. He gets so excited about it, that his enthusiasm has rubbed off on me. I've not been posting or creating all that much art lately... as you may or may not have noticed. I've been struggling with finding purpose and direction. I hope I figure it out this year. If nothing else, I hope these comics help me keep my drawing and storytelling skills alive.

One of those days....

Today kinda sucked. You know those days, you feel sad but don't necessarily have a good reason why.  I wanted to go gung-ho on a quilting project, but half way through discovered I totally messed it up. Sigh...

So I wanted to do SOMETHING successful! Sheesh. I took one of the four "Yammer" shirts we have and cut out the sides to be more fitted, but I also put in some fun fabric I had a little extra of. I got the idea from pinterest, but I'm really pleased that it turned out and shows off my little baby bump. Sometimes its the small stuff, ya know?

Man, I really need to tidy up my studio area....

Costumes

Last year, I was invited to my first Halloween Costume Party. I'm excited to go again this year, but now that I'm a new shape(baby bump), I want to take advantage of it! I did a google search of pregnant costumes, and I gotta say the selection is pretty sad. Most of them were painted bellies of basketballs and watermelons and the rest was "bun in the oven" joke. So these are my ideas. My husband's favorite is the pokemon one!

I was also thinking Mike could be a Mars Rover.

Which one do you like best? And do you have any ideas for me?

Do you ever feel this way? I do!

Shiny~An old Illustration Friday

I had the opportunity to paint with a young lady from church. She is interested in art and so I taught her how to make thumbnails. We took the word from Illustration Friday. the little painting is only a few inches across. I repainted the stinkin' face three or four times! I'm pretty happy with it though.

I have little scraps of illustration board that I've been saving. Isn't that silly?! Saving them for what??!! Now that we've moved into our new place and settling in, I'm determined to actually use them! Supplies are to be used not saved for some imaginary purpose. Right?

About Me

My photo
I am an illustrator, bookbinder, painter, doodler, list-maker, and wife. I love food. I am what can be categorized as a dabbler. I love trying new things, but I always come back around to art and illustration. I just can't help it.
